"My Experience in Kitakami"

Last weekend, I went to Kitakami with my friend to teach English for elementary school students. It was the first time for me to have a part-time job. (In fact, the hourly wage was high!) Through the class we taught some key phrases such as “My name is~.”, “I like~.”, and “He/She likes~.”
Though the class was really interesting, I couldn’t guess the nationality of the ALT. So after the class, I asked him, “Where are you from?” To my surprise, his nationality was a Brazilian. He said, “Most of the people often mistake me for American, Russian and Afghanistan.” Indeed he looked like a Brazilian, who can guess?
When it comes to thinking about ALT, I tend to associate them as American or British, for they come form the English-speaking world. I learned about “stereotype” and “prejudice” in Meeting of Multicultural Understanding Educators (MMCE). Maybe I had a prejudice against him. Someday the same thing may happen, so I won’t make same mistakes for now. Anyway, I had a good time in Kitakami.

Pinch Hitter,
Why do you say you "think you had predjudice against him"?
